I Love Lists
Dec. 31st, 2008 11:54 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
This is as of... around midnight today. I know it's still a day until the new year but I figured my charts wouldn't be changing much within that time frame so I just said to hell with it and copied them all down now. So because I am a maniac here is basically every incarnation of my Last.fm chart I could come up with:
Top 50 Artists (and their top track) [and how accurate I think their/the song's position is]:
I'm pretty happy with the way this list looks right now. It's got a good balance between bands I've liked for a long time and ones that I've just started to like this year. And there aren't any bands on there I can say were only a phase and I absolutely hate now.
1. Lydia (Now the One You Once Loved Is Leaving) [They definitely, without a doubt, deserve to be above everyone else here and they are by a very large margin. 2008 was the year of Lydia for me and it shows very drastically. I haven't felt this emotionally invested in a band since the first time I heard the Dresden Dolls, seriously; I might have been more obsessed with Rilo Kiley than I have been with Lydia, i.e. listening to them more, but I have not connected on such a deep level to any band in a very long time. "Now the One You Once Loved Is Leaving" isn't my very favorite but it's definitely up there and it was the first song I really noticed and fell in love with on Illuminate so it deserves its spot as well. Also, Mindyyyyy, how I love you!]
2. Rilo Kiley (Spectacular Views) [If I wouldn't have started listening to Los Campesinos! about a year ago to the date a few hours before I recorded these stats, they would have been number one, but alas, that tiny amount of plays they lost boosted Rilo Kiley back up. I haven't listened to them nearly as obsessively as I did last year and the year before but they still own such a large part of my heart. No matter what happens, whether they continue putting out subpar albums - even though I've warmed up to Under the Blacklight considerably since its release - or put out something truly mindblowing or don't put out anything as a band ever again, I'll always love them unconditionally. And "Spectacular Views" is definitely one of my very favorite songs and I never get tired of it. In its own words, "It's so fucking beautiful!"]
3. Los Campesinos! (Death to Los Campesinos!) [Ah, those crazy kids, Los Campesinos! What can I say? They just never fail to make me insanely, alarmingly happy and hyper when I listen to them. I spent most of last year being underwhelmed by the little I heard of theirs and wondering what all the hype was about. Then they finally just clicked and I haven't looked back since and it's been great. "Death to Los Campesinos!" is far from my favorite song of theirs at this point but when I only had a half-dozen or so tracks to choose from, I played the hell out of it, hence its high finish.]
4. Now It's Overhead (Let Up) [Andy LeMaster is a musical god to me, honestly and truly; he can do no wrong in my book. I've developed such a rapid and intense love for that man it's actually a bit scary. Each Now It's Overhead album effects me in such a different way but they each effect me so potently that it's impossible to pick a favorite. Actually, I can say that it's between the self-titled album and Dark Light Daybreak, but choosing just one of those? Impossible! I've adored "Let Up" since the first time I heard NIO and wasn't that into them and it's truly stood the test of time for me; it's just an absolutely incredible, intense, dare I say genius, little song.]
5. The Anniversary (Till We Earned a Holiday) [It took awhile for the Anniversary to grow on me but when they finally did, it was in a big way. Designing a Nervous Breakdown is so catchy, so youthful, so exuberant and whiel Your Majesty doesn't compare to it, it's not bad in its own right either. Honestly, I probably wouldn't like this band nearly as much if it weren't for Adrienne and her otherworldly vocals and I wish she would have had a more prominent role at times. "Till We Earned a Holiday" is definitely my favorite song; it's got a bit of everything - lovely harmonizing, beautiful lyrics, catchy chorus, shout-y vocals, you name it - and it's absolutely glorious.]
6. Tilly and the Wall (Cacophony) [I love the Tillies but I was let down by O this year. Regardless, I still adore them. And the album does have a few very redeeming songs that make it worth listening to. "Cacophony", while good, is not one of the most applaudable highlights, in my opinion, though. If I was going by that criteria, "Chandelier Lake" should be in its place instead because that song is so indescribably anthemic and bouyant yet creepy all at once. However, being the first song released, I played "Cacophony" a lot before the album actually came out and it just continued to rise because I'm a full album kind of music listener.]
7. The Dresden Dolls (Night Reconnaissance) [I will always love the Dresden Dolls forever and ever and I will be very sad if they never make another album together again and that's about all I have to say about that. "Night Reconnaissance" is a good song but I played it a lot when it was first released so the numbers are kind of skewed in its favor; "The Gardener" is the next highest and now that is basically one of the best Dresden Dolls songs ever.]
8. Mates of State (My Only Offer) [I'm surprised they are not higher because I feel like I played Re-Arrange Us a ton of times... but maybe it wasnt as many as I thought. Anyway, Mates of State, always adorable, always catchy, always lovely. Also, I think they are pretty much the cutest musical couple to ever exist or at least one of them.]
9. Okkervil River (On Tour with Zykos) [Love, love, love, love, love. And "On Tour with Zykos" is, put mildly, one of the most beautiful songs ever. "How come I shout goodbye/When God knows I just want to/Make this white lie big enough/To climb inside with you?"]
10. 1997 (A Dream of Form in Days of Thought) [Okay, I'm tired of doing this already.]
11. Straylight Run (Sympathy for the Martyr)
12. Copeland (On the Safest Ledge)
13. Amanda Palmer (Runs in the Family)
14. Stars (A Thread Cut with a Carving Knife)
15. The Hush Sound (Molasses/Medicine Man)
16. Sleater-Kinney (Leave You Behind/Jumpers)
17. Sarah Slean (Parasol)

And fuck. This is JUST FUCKING FANTASTIC. I hate my life.
To take my mind off this monstrosity of a fuck-up (and the fact that I should be doing more productive things), here are some Sims pictures. If you want to see them all, just go to the gallery. I'm way too lazy to upload everything there and then post every single picture to this and I bet no one besides me looks at them anyway, so, yeah, it doesn't matter.

Aspiration failure = fun times.

Butler who sets himself on fire yet refuses to die = not so much.

...And now, ladies and gentleman, the Amazing Flying Oliver!

"HOMEWORK IS THE DEVIL!!!! *whine whine whine*"

"Oh noez! My stupid brother hates me and I was abducted by aliens. I hate my life!"

This is what happens when you bring friends home with you from school, children. Pure, unadulterated hatred.

What a manwhore. However, Tara the Teenage Witch doesn't seem too bothered by Ollie's slutastic ways.

Time for college! Ollie is not a happy camper.

This helps, though.

Meanwhile, Tara is inconspicuous and apparently itching to get hitched. Sorry, girlfriend, teenage romance was as far as you two are going to get.

"Umm, guys?... what the fuck is up with these outfits?"

Shock is apparently the favorite expression in this dormitory. What exactly is so shocking? Will and Ruby sexing it up on the sofa, streakers everyday, Tara casting spells - you take your pick.

"Oh God. *barf*" Tara, honey, are you forgetting how you got into this story in the first place? By coming home with Andy and being totally into WooHooing in the hottub with him? Yeah, where'd that girl go?

Ruby and Will are still too adorable for words.

Andy beds (sofas?) Eliza for his number five... or is that six?... WooHoo. Damn, twenty is going to take forever. Especially if certain people keep rejecting his advances. *coughOlliecough*

Absolutely everyone manages to overachieve without actually doing any work to get there.

And I love makeovers way too much! (And got new default skins/eyes/etc. if you notice the difference.)
One more thing. This is fantastic:
I love Zooey. Why is that girl so amazing?

Andy beds (sofas?) Eliza for his number five... or is that six?... WooHoo. Damn, twenty is going to take forever. Especially if certain people keep rejecting his advances. *coughOlliecough*
Absolutely everyone manages to overachieve without actually doing any work to get there.
And I love makeovers way too much! (And got new default skins/eyes/etc. if you notice the difference.)
One more thing. This is fantastic:
I love Zooey. Why is that girl so amazing?
what kind of fuckery is this?
